About

Author and educator, finishing a PhD project in the Legal Philosophy group of the Leiden Law School. The dissertation is about the laws of armed conflict in the context of modern strategy and strategic change, and related philosophical problems.

I grew up in the Netherlands, attended Brandeis University and the London School of Economics, before returning to Holland for the PhD. I currently live in London.

2005-2011 
University of Leiden, Faculty of Law, Institute for the Interdisciplinary Study of the Law.
Research Fellow and Lecturer in the Legal Philosophy Group. Six years experience teaching classical and political philosophy seminars to Dutch law undergraduates. Three publications. PhD dissertation supervised by Professor Andreas Kinneging.

1998-2002 Brandeis University (Boston, MA), Bachelor of Science in Philosophy and Biochemistry. Awarded IVIS Scholarship. Fourteen courses in Philosophy (eight required) with a focus on analytic philosophy and ancient philosophy.  In Biochemistry, two years part-time research in Petsko-Ringe Laboratory, followed by one year full-time research after graduation.

1992-1998 Stedelijk Gymnasium Haarlem (Netherlands). Classical grammar school. Ten subjects in Dutch State Final Exam (seven required). Co-Founder of Haarlem Model United Nations in 1998.
